Currently in its seventh session, Mid-South Youth Camp has been providing both entertainment and spiritual growth for young people all summer. Located off Highway 45 near Henderson, MSYC has something for everyone; the camp offers eight weeks of regular camp for students aged 9 through 18 and five weeks of junior camp.
MSYC’s first week began on June 3, and each week has seen an average of 120 campers. Although each week offers unique opportunities, all campers take part in daily devotionals, classes, and singings. The theme for MSYC this year, “…And Then Some,” has campers studying from I Timothy 4:12. Other activities include a bonfire, hike, talent show, and visit to Freed-Hardeman University.
Frank Bradford, director of MSYC, says the theme this year is a lesson that campers need to take home with them. “The goal is for the kids to leave camp and be the examples discussed in I Timothy: in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
Madlyn Maples, a third-year camper at MSYC, has been to camp three different weeks this year. She loves MSYC, saying that her favorite thing about camp is that “we have fun while also learning about God.”
