Lady Lions Retain Top Spot

The FHU Lady Lions occupied the top spot in the NAIA Coaches' Poll released Feb. 19. FHU edged out Oklahoma City by one point to retain their ranking.

Freed-Hardeman’s Lady Lions occupied the top spot in the NAIA in the Division I Women's Basketball Coaches’ Poll released Feb. 19. FHU edged out Oklahoma City by one point to retain their number one ranking. With only one loss to spoil a perfect record, the Lady Lions have posted a 27-1 overall record and are undefeated in the TranSouth.

A win Feb. 16 over Mid-Continent clinched the regular season conference championship for the fourth time in program history. Two non-conference games remain on the schedule before the conference tournament.

The top billing is the third in program history for Freed-Hardeman, which held the No. 1 spot for two weeks in the 2011-12 season. FHU and OCU are the only two schools to appear in every poll since the beginning of the 1999-2000 season.
