FHU #7 for Affordable Schools in Tennessee for Bachelor’s Degree

Located in Henderson, Freed-Hardeman University is a private accredited university in Tennessee associated with the Churches of Christ. Although the school is primarily residential and undergraduate, it also serves adult, part-time, and commuting students both on-campus and through online programs. Students looking to pursue an affordable degree in Tennessee will benefit from an education at FHU that integrates Christian faith, service, and scholarship. FHU confers top-tier academic programs with a consistently Christian perspective through its College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Biblical Studies. New programs as of the 2019 academic school year include an online associate in general studies, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a concentration in financial planning, and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity as well as two 4+1 programs in education in which students earn a bachelor’s and a master’s in reduced time.

Colleges of Distinction: Freed-Hardeman University Recognized as a Leader in Christian Education

Freed-Hardeman University was named to Christian Colleges of Distinction, Tennessee Colleges of Distinction and Colleges of Distinction 2016-17 and 2017-18. Colleges of Distinction is a resource and guidebook used by high school counselors for more than a decade. Colleges included on this list exhibit a strong commitment to student engagement, great teaching, a vibrant community and successful outcomes. Schools on the Colleges of Distinction list have curriculums that emphasize critical thinking, writing, oral skills, research and global perspectives. To be considered, schools must offer out-of-classroom learning opportunities and study abroad programs as well. The evaluation process is objective and examines qualitative and quantitative information such as class size, faculty-to-student ratio, student retention and four-year graduation rates. The mission of the Colleges of Distinction listing is to connect students with information that empowers them to make a confident choice when they select a college to attend.

Best College Reviews: Freed-Hardeman University Ranks Ninth among the Top 50 Best Small Colleges

Freed-Hardeman University ranked ninth among the Top 50 Best Small Colleges. FHU was recognized for its strong sense of spirituality on campus as every student has a Bible class each semester and worships with faculty at daily chapel. Using research gathered from the National Center for Education Statistics, colleges were evaluated based on enrollment, retention, graduation rates, tuition, and degrees. The schools were ranked using a scoring rubric based on 500 to 2,000 undergraduate students, availability of campus housing, graduate degrees offered, better than 50 percent graduation rate, no more than $30,000 tuition, a student to faculty ratio of 15:1 or less, and a 74 percent or higher retention rate to rank the best small colleges in the nation. AffordableColleges.com, an online resource that evaluates
colleges based on various criteria including graduation rates, financial aid opportunities and program offerings, ranked Freed-Hardeman among the most affordable Bible and Christian colleges. The strength of FHU's theology course offerings for undergraduate and graduate students and its commitment to offering mission trips to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and New Zealand were factors that led to Freed-Hardeman's inclusion on the list. Grad School Hub Most Affordable Online Programs Badge

Grad School Hub:  FHU's Online Master of Education Ranked No. 12 in Most Affordable Online Programs Study

Grad School Hub has listed Freed-Hardeman University's online Master of Education in curriculum and instruction as one of the nation's most affordable degrees. Grad School Hub provides expert information on high-quality, accredited graduate programs to help students find programs that best fit their needs. For this ranking, the organization looked at private, nonprofit colleges and universities charging no more than $20,000 in tuition and fees. The study listed the top 30 online degree programs in order of affordability. Grad School Hub ranked FHU at No.12. FHU's master's in curriculum and instruction requires a total of 36 credit hours including a six-hour culminating capstone action research project.
