NYC Trip

The COVID-19 pandemic which began in earnest in March of 2020 has impacted all aspects of life. New York City was especially impacted. As of this writing,  Broadway theatres are shut down until early 2021.

We intend to return to New York to enjoy its theatre and culture. However, the safety of our travelers is paramount. Tentative plans for a NYC Theatre trip for January 2022 are in the works. Watch this space for details.

Alistare Cooke called New York City - the greatest collection of villages in the world. Each year, students, faculty and friends of FHU travel to the Big Apple to get a taste of the city and its wonders. The group enjoys New York theatre performances, tours of prominent entertainment facilities and workshops with theatre professionals.

The typical trip takes place in January. We usually fly out of Nashville and land at LaGuardia Airport. We stay at a midtown Manhattan hotel, 5 minutes from Times Square. We'll see 3-4 shows, visit the 911 Memorial, talk with Broadway professionals, tour a theatre. All with plenty of time for independent sightseeing.

There's much more to do too! See shows like WickedThe Lion King, or Stomp. Enjoy great shopping and good food. Visit the Statue of Liberty, China Town, historic Harlem... Make the trip your own.

You can also receive college credit for the trip. Enroll in the January short course, THE299A/399A New York Theatre Survey to learn all about Manhattan history, musical theatre in performance and the shows we'll see.
