We Serve a God Who is Faithful!

Sep. 08, 2015

From the pen of Dr. Sam Jones

Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, And you shall glorify Me” (Psa. 50:15).

Perhaps all is well in your life. Great! But are you ready for “it?” “It” is coming. Are you wondering what “it” is? “It” is an experience which causes you to doubt things, shakes your faith, robs you of both joy and peace, pushes you into isolation, and this is just the start. “It” will occur, at some point, in all of our lives. The question is not “why does ‘it’ occur?” But “when ‘it’ happens will I be ready?”

What can the righteous do when they experience “it”- a tragedy or situation in life that shakes their faith? We have explored two options available to those who trust in God. This Spiritual Moment will present option number three. Option 3 – Know we serve a God who is faithful. God has made a promise to all those who have put their trust in Him. He promised to “not allow you (them) to be tempted beyond what you (they) are able, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that you (they) may be able to bear it” (I Cor. 10:13). There’s nothing to fear when “it’ occurs because God will make a way.

Years ago, David came to this understanding about God. Thus, he wrote, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion, and from the paw of the bear. He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine” (I Sam. 17:37).  God’s faithfulness in the early years of the life of David caused him to write the following two passages in the latter years:

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears”(Psa. 34:4).

“For He has delivered me out of all troubles, And my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies” (Psa. 54:7).

“It” is going to occur someday in life; it’s great and comforting to know that we serve a God who is faithful to all His promises (cf. Heb. 10:23). Therefore, David challenges us in Psalm 50:15 to “call” on Him. If “it” happens today or tomorrow or if “it” has already happened, then remember life is going to be okay because God is faithful!

Smile, God is faithfully watching over you!
