What a beautiful, beautiful day! Today is a beautiful day in so many, many ways. Yet, in spite of the beauty of this day and the wonderful blessings God is bestowing on each of us – Satan is working to deprive millions of joy, happiness, and contentment. The challenge or charge for today’s Spiritual Moment is “Don’t allow Satan to ruin your day.”
Regardless what email, text, or phone call you receive today – be happy. Regardless what event or situation you encounter today – smile. Regardless of what doesn’t work and breakdown in your life – rejoice. Regardless what people or friends do or don’t do for you today – remember, it’s a beautiful day. What makes today a beautiful day? It would be easy to cite 100 or more reasons today is a beautiful day, but the limited space will only permit me to briefly describe three.
First, the God we serve really, really cares for us. Satan wants us to think that no one cares for us. We are strongly encouraged to put “all” our worries, concerns, problems, issues, etc. into a bag and give it to God. Why? There are two reasons why we should give our bag of problems to God: He care for us (I Pet. 5:7), and He is more than able to solve or address them (Eph. 3:20). God cares for us also means He loves us; it’s a fact God will never-ever cease loving us (Rom. 8:35-38). There’s nothing you can do or say that will cause Him to stop loving and caring for you. God’s arms and hands will always be opened or extended to help or comfort all in need! So knowing that God cares and will never cease to care for us is a reason to rejoice and be happy.
Second, we have a true friend in Jesus. A real true friend is someone whom you can depend-on, trust, and is always looking out for your good. Well, that’s Jesus! Jesus has returned to heaven and is presently standing before the Father talking to Him about each of us. Paul writes in Romans 8:34, “…Who (Christ) is even at the right hand of God, who makes intercession for us.” Your friend, my friend is talking with the Father about our problems and concerns. Today is a beautiful day because our friend is speaking to the Father about us. What a friend we have in Jesus! With such a true friend as Jesus, it’s going to be a beautiful, beautiful day; thus, I am going to be content.
Third, the Holy Spirit has informed us that everything is going to be alright. The Holy Spirit was given to the Apostles to guide them into “all the truth” (Jo. 16:13). The Spirit informed Paul in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Whatever comes our way today, even tomorrow or the day after, it’s going to be okay, because the Holy Spirit testifies “all things” will be okay. Let’s us trust the Holy Spirit. He wants to comfort us as He leads us (Rom. 8:14), helps us through difficult times (Rom. 8:26), and change us as we allow Him to dwell in us (Gal. 5:22-23). As a result of what the Holy Spirit has revealed, it’s going to be a lovely day. The Spirit informs us that there is nothing that is going to happen to us today that God is not capable of handling. It is a beautiful, beautiful day. The Bible readings are I Kings 7 and 2 Chronicles 4.
