Tickets - For the safety of all 2020 graduates, FHU has transitioned the graduation ceremony to a ticket only event. Each graduate may reserve up to four tickets at https://fhutickets.universitytickets.com. Guests will need to present a printed or digital ticket to gain entry to Loyd Auditorium. A small number of mobility-limited seating will be available, contact Beth Sanford via email email@example.com.
Video Live-Streaming - The graduation ceremony will be live-streamed at https://www.fhu.edu/commencement
Announcements/Class Rings - Class rings and other graduation related materials may be ordered online at https://collegegrad.herffjones.com. Once on the website, search Freed-Hardeman University and then follow the steps to access options for graduation supplies.
Graduation Rehearsal - There will not be a graduation rehearsal
Graduation Day - Please be on campus at 9:30am in the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center (library). Please be dressed in your full regalia. The ARC will not be accessible after graduation so please do not bring any additional items with you. You will be provided a card with your name already printed on it. You are encouraged to add a phonetic spelling on the card if you are concerned about your name being pronounced correctly. Please give your full attention to Mrs. Carrie Stapleton and Mrs. Heidi Sprouse. They will be directing you for lineup.
Graduates line up in Regalia at the Hope Barber Shull Academic Resource Center (Library). You will be provided a card with your name already printed on it. You are encouraged to add a phonetic spelling on the card if you are concerned about you name being pronounced correctly. Marshalls will help to verify regalia is accurate. Graduates may not decorate the top of his/her mortar (cap) to preserve the formality of the ceremony.
Lion Walk. Students will process from the Academic Resource Center through Bucy Tower and on to Loyd Auditorium.
Processional. Graduates who arrive late will not be seated with the other graduates, but will be allowed to walk across state at the appropriate time.
Regalia Information – August graduates may pick up regalia now. For November graduates, regalia will be available for pick up beginning November 9, 2020. Regalia may be picked up on the Henderson campus at the University Bookstore. For Memphis graduates, regalia may be picked up at the Bucy Center from Mrs. Sandra Hudley on November 16-18 between 9:00am - 5:00pm.
For Dickson graduates, regalia may be picked up at the Renaissance Center from Mrs. Demetria Walker, November 16-18 between the hours of 9:00am - 4:30pm.
Undergraduate graduates: Wear cap, gown, and tassel. If applicable, student will wear honor cords, Alpha Chi medallion, and/or Honors College stole.
Dual BBA/MBA graduates: Wear Master’s regalia along with any undergraduate honor regalia earned as Alpha Chi, honor cords and/or Honors College stole
Master’s degree graduates: Wear cap, gown, tassel, hood, college stole,* and medallion*
M.Div. or Education Specialist graduates: Wear cap, gown, tassel, hood, college stole,* and medallion*. In addition, each will be presented a pin to be affixed on stage.
Doctoral graduates: Wear doctoral robes, college stoles*, cap, and tassel. Each Doctoral recipient will be hooded on stage. IF a student has previously earned an Education Specialist degree and purchased a medallion, he/she may wear it. Medallions will not be provided for Doctoral graduates.
Parking - Parking is limited

Upon the conclusion of your ceremony
Return Stoles and Cords – Graduates who have not purchased gold honor chords, stoles or medallions must return the items after the ceremony. A table will be located on the east side of the ARC under the portico for you to return regalia. To purchase these items prior to graduation please contact Heidi Sprouse (firstname.lastname@example.org, 731.989.6004).
Diploma Covers Each graduate will receive a diploma cover as he/she crosses the stage during the ceremony. IF you previously received your cover or do not wish to keep your cover, a box will be available at the table in front of the ARC to return the unwanted cover after graduation.
Photographer – An FHU photographer will be taking pictures as each graduate receives his/her diploma cover from President Shannon on stage with your mask.
An outdoor photo line will be available after the ceremony with President Shannon. No mask will be required for this photo. Photos will be available for purchase in 4-6 weeks at
Survey – A survey will be emailed to you in approximately six months. Please complete the survey for our data collection.
