On Sep 30th, University Servants' Day, the FHU Dept of Nursing, in conjunction with Earl Young's Team and DKMS, will conduct a donor drive to increase the number of potential donors for stem-cell and bone marrow transplants to delete blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
In Henderson, there will be 3 donor collection sites on campus (Student Center, Brewer Sports Center, ARC150) and one in the community (Henderson Family Pharmacy, 535 West Main St). In Dickson, there will be 6 donor locations throughout the community. The drive will be conducted from 11:00-6:00pm.
- Every 3 minutes an American is diagnosed with blood cancer.
- Every year, over 50,000 people die from blood cancer in the U.S.
- 70% of those suffering from blood cancers, approximately 14,000 each year, must rely on a benevolent stranger to step up and donate. Not everyone finds a match in their family.
The process is simple:
- 5 minutes of time
- 3 swabs of your cheeks
- 1 life can be saved and changed forever
Please consider donating. Be someone's benevolent stranger.
