About David Powell
Hello, my name is David Powell. I was born in Paducah, Kentucky. I am the son of the late Joe and Delores Powell. My mom, "momma Dee," was a dorm mother in Farrow Hall for seven years. I am married to the former Cathy Dublin of Mayfield, Kentucky. She, too, graduated from FH. Today she is an adjunct teacher at Freed-Hardeman and coordinator for student teachers. We have been married for 38 years. We have two children, Katie and Nathan. Katie is 28 and a 2008 graduate of FHU. She is married to Taylor Bell and they currently live in Jackson, TN. They have one child, Annie. She is a publicist for Icon Productions and Publications. My son, Nathan, is a 2015 graduate of FHU and is currently employed as the youth minister for the McKenzie church of Christ. He is married to Hope Allen.
I also preach for the North Jackson church of Christ in Jackson, Tennessee. I have been there for 25 years. I am in my 24th year of teaching Bible at FHU. I currently serve as Assistant Dean of Biblical Studies. I try to take at least one trip abroad in campaign work each year. I travel with North Jackson to Peru and the Dominican Republic. I love to fish, read, work in my yard, and spend time with my family.
