Dining Services Associate (Full Time and Part Time)

Department: Dining Services

Status: Both Full-Time and Part-Time available

Reports To: Dining Services Director/ Catering Manager

Position Summary:
Prepare quality, safe, appetizing foods for students, staff, and visitors. The Culinarian is responsible for customer service and adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on Lion’s Pride Dining Services’ requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):
➢ Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
➢ Contribute to a positive team environment
➢ Weigh and measures designated ingredients.
➢ Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
➢ Properly check and store appropriately incoming food and kitchen supplies.
➢ Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
➢ Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, kitchen equipment, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
➢ Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
➢ Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures.
➢ Maintain required departmental records regarding groceries needed, adjustments to recipes, and proper accounting for food quantities and food service supplies utilized.
➢ Set up food serving counters in an organized and appealing manner.
➢ Assemble, operate, disassemble, and clean food service equipment in accordance with operating procedures and safety process requirements.
➢ Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
➢ Serve customers in a courteous and efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
➢ Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to supervisor.
➢ Operate cash register in food service area as required.
➢ Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
➢ Transport food and set-up satellite food service for catering events.
➢ Practice all safety and sanitation requirements in food preparation and service areas to maintain a clean, healthy, and attractive environment.

Requirements:
➢ High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
➢ 1-2 years of related work experience preferred
➢ Knowledge of basic operation of equipment
➢ Flexibility to work around customer demands, including early morning, night, weekend, and holiday availability.
➢ Ability to work in hot, hectic environment as well as stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy items for extended periods.

Salary:
Commensurate with training, education, and experience.
