Dish Room Attendant, Part Time

Department:  Dining Services                        

Status:   Part-time, Non-Exempt

Effective Date:

Effective immediately.  A six-month probationary period is in effect for all non-exempt employees.

 

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, utensils, and other serviceware. Sets up, operates, and cleans dish machine and related equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operates dish machine and related equipment.
  2. Dismantles, cleans, and reassembles dish machine equipment.
  3. Ensures the sanitary handling of service ware and maintains safety standards during dish machine operation.
  4. Cleans dish room floors, walls, dollies, carts, service area floors, and related facilities and equipment.
  5. Organizes pots, pans, and other service ware; replaces sanitized service ware in appropriate location.
  6. May instruct and oversee the activities of student employees performing the same type of work.
  7. Removes trash from dining area and kitchen maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Less than high school; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate and/or maintain dish washing equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and care of culinary facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
