National speaker and media personality Sarah-Jane Bedwell will speak March 17 in Ayers Auditorium on the Freed-Hardeman University campus. Her appearance is sponsored by the College of Business and the Ayers Center for Student Leadership.
The first session, entitled “Fueling for Success Professionally,” will begin at 4:00pm. A second session, “Fueling for Success Physically,” will start at 4:45pm. The final session, “Fueling Especially for Women,” will begin at 5:30pm.
Bedwell seeks to inspire audiences to make healthful life-style changes through interactive, practical and entertaining talks, cooking demonstrations and media segments. In addition to national television appearances on Good Morning America and The Today Show, she appears monthly on Nashville’s CBS affiliate, News Channel 5, with an upbeat, nutrition-related segment on a noon-time show. Bedwell is also a food and nutrition blogger for SELF Magazine, a national women’s health and fitness publication.
In “Schedule Me Skinny,” published in 2013, the author says women can ensure a whole week of healthy eating with 30 minutes of prep once a week. “The secret ingredient for weight loss isn’t grapefruit or quinoa or protein bars…it’s planning,” she said. The book is available digitally and in paperback.
A registered dietitian, Bedwell majored in dietetics and minored in exercise science at Harding University. She completed an internship with an emphasis on medical nutrition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has served as a consultant for the food and beverage industry. She currently offers individual nutrition counseling, nutrition seminars and cooking classes for groups. She is a past president of the Nashville District Dietetic Association and is a media spokesperson for the Tennessee Dietetic Association.
The public is invited to attend this free event. Additional information about Bedwell is available at www.sarahjanebedwell.com.
