Preacher Training School in India Names Evangelism Center in Honor of Dr. E. Claude Gardner

Henderson, Tenn. - Apr 25, 2016

A preacher training school in Kakinada, India, has honored Dr. E. Claude Gardner, former president of Freed-Hardeman University, by naming a newly constructed facility the Gardner and Hyche Evangelism Center. The grand opening of the center, which will seat more than 1,000 persons, was March 29, 2016.

The school is directed by Dr. K. G. Kumar, its founder and president. He is an alumnus of Freed-Hardeman. For several years, it has prepared a large number of preachers annually, according to Gardner. More recently, it has added a special division to train women as Bible teachers. It currently works with 47 preachers and 76 congregations in India.

Gardner was instrumental in helping to raise funds for the evangelism center. He also serves as chancellor in an advisory role to Kumar. The other honorees are Ken and Beverly Hyche, lifetime supporters of the preacher training school.

“I am thankful to all the donors who have given to the construction of the building. I am also thankful to Dr. Gardner and Bro. Hyche for letting me honor them by giving their names to the Evangelism Center,” Kumar said.
