Freed-Hardeman University has announced the appointment of Dr. Jason Brashier as the dean of the College of Business. Dr. C.J. Vires, vice president of academics and provost, made the announcement Thursday, May 19, 2016.
Brashier has been a member of the business faculty since 2005. For the past three years, he has been the director of institutional effectiveness and the liaison with the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges. In that role, he has coordinated the university's assessment and continuous improvement efforts and coordinated the university's successful effort to secure approval from SASCOC to establish an off-campus instructional site at Dickson, Tennessee, and to become a Level 5 institution, which allowed the university to offer its first doctoral degree.
“The FHU College of Business has a reputation for graduating students who are well-prepared academically for work in their chosen field, who exhibit a strong work ethic, who are service-oriented and who possess a high degree of integrity grounded in Christian faith. The College of Business will continue to offer excellent business programs and will work to develop new and exciting opportunities for student engagement,” Brashier said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the College of Business in its efforts to help students grow in faith, scholarship and service.”
Brashier holds a Ph.D. in business administration from Northcentral University, an M.A. in management from the University of Alabama and a B.B.A from the University of North Alabama.
He and his wife, April, have three children: Ava, age 6; Miles, age 3; Amos, age 1. They attend the North Jackson Church of Christ where he serves as a deacon working with the finance committee, worship assignments and the college and young professionals group.
