FHU College of Business Ranks in Top Seven Percent on Major Field Test

Henderson, Tennessee - May 24, 2019

Freed-Hardeman University business majors completing the Major Field Test (MFT) in business had a strong performance this year, scoring in the top seven percent among 496 U.S. colleges and universities that use the test.

Senior business majors are required to complete the MFT as a component of the business capstone course. The exam tests a student’s knowledge across nine business domains. Not only did the 2018-2019 cohort score in the top seven percent overall, but they also beat the national average on all nine categories. Ten of the 54 students completing the exam scored in the top ten percent among more than 69,000 test-takers nationwide.

“The strong performance of this year’s graduating seniors is evidence of their hard work and dedication to their business education,” said Dr. Jason Brashier, dean of the College of Business. “We are very pleased with the exceptional results this year, but it is not a surprise as we have scored in the top 25 percent four years in a row. The faculty should also be recognized for their efforts in developing and delivering high-quality courses and experiences. The MFT assessment is just one measure of what we seek to accomplish in the College of Business, but it does provide external validation of the great educational product we are delivering in addition to preparing students to serve as Christian business professionals.”

The FHU College of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting, business analytics, finance, management and marketing, as well as Masters of Business Administration degrees in general business administration and healthcare management.
