FHU Gallery to Feature Alumna’s work

Henderson, Tenn. - Jan 13, 2016

Meghann McGehee, an alumna of Freed-Hardeman University , will be the featured artist Jan. 28 - Feb. 26, 2016, in the Troy Plunk Gallery of the Bulliner-Clayton Visual Arts Center on the FHU campus.

A reception and artist’s talk are planned for Thursday, Jan. 28, from 5:00 - 7:00pm in the gallery of the visual arts center. McGehee is particularly interested in light and color. Her paintings are primarily plein air landscapes along with some still lifes and figures. “My work seeks to capture the essence of a feeling, a time, or a place through a cultivated understanding and respect for light and its interconnection with color,” she said.

McGehee is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and a 2009 graduate of FHU. She developed a love for art at an early age, often wandering through museums and galleries, gaining respect and appreciation for the art she viewed. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from FHU.

The artist works as a Paint Nite instructor in Jacksonville while continuing to develop and perfect her own work.

MeGehee’s work has been exhibited previously in the Troy Plunk Gallery, as well as Amiro Art Galleries and Galley Del Mar in St. Augustine, Florida.

The Troy Plunk Gallery is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. The public is invited to attend the artist’s talk and view the exhibition.
