FHU Graduate School of Theology Receives Specialized Accreditation

Henderson, Tenn. - Feb 27, 2017

The Board of Commissioners of the Association of Theological Schools has granted accreditation to the Freed-Hardeman University Graduate School of Theology for an initial period of five years; at that time, the school will complete its next self-study in pursuit of reaffirmation.

The ATS Commission on Accrediting also granted approval for two degree programs, the Master of Divinity and the Master of Arts in New Testament.

“This specialized accreditation validates the quality of the programs in the Graduate School of Theology and strengthens the resumes of our graduates,” Dr. Mark Blackwelder, director of the Graduate School of Theology, said.

More than 270 graduate schools of theology in the United States and Canada form The Association of Theological Schools. According to their website, the mission of ATS is “to promote the improvement and enhancement of theological schools to the benefit of communities of faith and the broader public.”

Freed-Hardeman University offers five graduate degrees in Bible: Master of Arts in Ministry, Master of Arts in New Testament, Master of Arts in Old Testament, Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling and Master of Divinity.
