FHU Honors Retirees with Reception

Henderson, Tennessee - Apr 17, 2018

Freed-Hardeman University honored five retiring professors and a former president with a reception April 16 following chapel.

Three members of the group have served the university for 40 or more years: Dr. Roy Sharp, professor of Bible, 47 years; Mark Crowell, associate professor of social work, 43 years; and Dr. Elizabeth Saunders, professor of education, 40 years.

The other three were: Dr. Becky Cargile, professor of English, 25 years; Dr. Gene Reeves, associate professor of education, 22 years; and Dr. Joe Wiley, former president, 10 years.

“We appreciate the many decades of faithful service rendered to the university by these six,” FHU President David Shannon said. “It is virtually impossible to measure their contributions or to count the lives they have touched. We will miss their wisdom and dedication to Christian education, and we wish them well as they honor God in this next stage of their lives.”
