FHU’s Biblical and Pastoral Counseling Master’s Degree Ranked One of Nation’s Best

Freed-Hardeman University’s Master of Arts in biblical and pastoral counseling is featured as one of the nation’s top two programs by TheBestSchools.org for 2018.

The team at TheBestSchools.org reviewed all accredited online masters in biblical and pastoral counseling degree programs in the U.S. to select the top programs based on quality of program and range of courses, as well as school awards, rankings and reputation. They described FHU’s program as “grounded in theology and practical application.”

The online master’s degree in pastoral care and counseling at FHU includes 48 credit hours of coursework and internship requirements. In addition to classes on the New and Old Testaments, communication in the ministry and psychopathology, students study theory and practice of family therapy, grief counseling and clinical intervention from a Christian perspective. At the end of the program, students complete a six-credit hour internship to gain hands-on experience and apply degree knowledge. Students prepare for careers as youth ministers, preachers, Bible school teachers and other leadership positions within the Christian community.
