Freed-Hardeman University to Welcome Students Back on Campus Fall 2020

Henderson, TN - May 22, 2020

President David Shannon announced that Freed-Hardeman University plans to welcome students back for on-campus instruction and activities in August 2020 for the fall semester.

Shannon said, “For 150 years, Freed-Hardeman has provided a transforming experience for our students, and we are thrilled this fall to offer the same. Our administration has been meeting regularly to prepare to bring our campus community back together.”

FHU’s COVID-19 Task Force is developing precautionary measures aligned with public health guidelines and safety recommendations to keep the campus safe.

Shannon added, “Our faculty and staff did an amazing job in helping our students complete their spring semester online. Through this time, our students and parents have let us know how much they value the on-campus, transforming experience that FHU offers. We are committed to serving students while preparing for other challenges that our society may face.”

In discussing FHU’s ability to adapt, FHU Vice President for Student Services Wayne Scott said, “We are thankful to be in a safe, small community — away from areas that have been more impacted by COVID-19 — and to provide an environment that is flexible and focuses on the needs of each student.”

Prospective students and their families can reserve campus tours at fhu.edu/visit.  “The FHU family is ready to be at home on campus. What has often been taken for granted may be appreciated the most this semester,” added Shannon.
