FHU Students Preparing to Make Music April 10 - 11

Henderson, Tenn. - Mar 31, 2015

If it’s April, it must be time for Freed-Hardeman University students to make some music! More than 500 students are in the final stages of preparing this annual rite of spring. This week will see them sewing on the last sequins and polishing their choreography for the all-student production, now in its 38th year.

Makin’ Music 2015, “Written in These Walls,” will take the stage April 10 - 11 in Loyd Auditorium. For the six social clubs, it will be the culmination of months of preparation and practice, all for seven minutes in the spotlight. A team of judges will evaluate the productions in four categories: lyrics, blocking and staging, vocals and costumes/set design. Winners will be chosen in each area and a sweepstakes trophy will be awarded to the overall winner Saturday evening.

A team of six hosts and hostesses, accompanied by the Makin’ Music Show Band, will perform between the club shows. Hosts are Matt Kyser, Houston, Texas; Patrick Spears, Cordova, Tenn.; and Charlie Stoltz, Culleoka, Tenn. Hostesses are Madison Jobe, Ramer, Tenn.; Jennifer Trimble, Spring Hill, Tenn.; and Haley Webster, Winfield, Ala.

The whole production is coordinated by Tommy Genduso of Apex, N.C., and Katy Holmsley of Sheffield, Texas. They are assisted by a staff of students. Masters of ceremonies are Midly Jadis, Davenport, Fla., and Spencer Morris, Cottontown, Tenn. The Voice of Makin’ Music is Abby Besson of Cynthiana, Ky.

Show times for Makin’ Music are Friday, April 10, at 7:30pm. and Saturday, April 11, at 2 and 7:30pm. To purchase tickets for Makin’ Music 2015, visit
