The Freed-Hardeman University Office of Alumni Engagement will host its annual Golden Year Reunion June 19-21 on FHU’s campus, Chris Ramey, director, said. The class of 1969 will be especially honored; however, any alumni from previous years are encouraged to attend also.

Freed-Hardeman University business majors completing the Major Field Test (MFT) in business had a strong performance this year, scoring in the top seven percent among 496 U.S. colleges and universities that use the test.

Dr. Phil Oldham, president of Tennessee Tech University, delivered the commencement address Saturday, May 18, at Freed-Hardeman University. He grew up in Henderson as a part of the FHU family and is an alumnus of Freed-Hardeman and a former member of the university’s Board of Trustees.

Dr. C.J. Vires, FHU vice president for academics and provost, presented the Faculty Scholarship-Leadership Medal to Isabel Harris at commencement exercises May 18. She graduated summa cum laude, earning a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. Multiple faculty members described her as “one of the finest students they have had the opportunity to teach,” Vires said

Isabel Harris, a senior mathematics major at Freed-Hardeman University, has been awarded an H.Y. Benedict Fellowship by the national college honor society Alpha Chi. Harris will use the fellowship this fall to pursue a doctorate in mathematics at Auburn University.

Approximately 50 Freed-Hardeman University nursing students will participate in pinning ceremonies May 16 and 17 in Dickson and Henderson, respectively. They will receive their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees May 18 during commencement exercises.

Freed-Hardeman will be one of nine sites hosting the opening round of the 2019 NAIA Baseball National Tournament May 13-15, the league announced Wednesday. The university joins Cumberlands (Kentucky), Faulkner (Alabama), Georgia Gwinnett, LSU Shreveport (Louisiana), Middle Georgia State, St. Thomas (Florida), Kingsport (Tennessee) and Westmont (California) as the host sites.

More than 500 persons gathered in Freed-Hardeman University’s Brewer Sports Center Saturday evening, April 27, to hear Paul Finebaum, a leading voice for sports coverage in the Southeast. Proceeds from the dinner benefit intercollegiate athletics at FHU.

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) has reviewed the undergraduate family science program at Freed-Hardeman University. Recognition as an NCFR CFLE-approved program has been reaffirmed, indicating FHU offers coursework which covers content required for the Certified Family Life Education (CFLE) designation.

Dr. Phil Oldham, president of Tennessee Tech University, will deliver the graduation address at Freed-Hardeman University Saturday, May 18, at 10:00am in Loyd Auditorium. Oldham, the son of the late Reeder and June Oldham, grew up in Henderson as a part of the FHU family. He is an alumnus of Freed-Hardeman and a former member of the university’s Board of Trustees.
