    A group of Chester County elementary school children are enhancing their art education this semester in an after-school art class at Freed-Hardeman University. Twenty-one children are participating in the class Thursday afternoons until the end of November.

  • Encaustic Paintings by Nashville Artist Coming to FHU Gallery

    Abstraction in Nature, an exhibit from Nashville artist Judy Klich, will be on display Oct. 5-Nov. 14 at Freed-Hardeman University’s Troy Plunk Gallery in Bulliner-Clayton Art Center. The public is invited to attend a reception and artist’s talk Oct. 5, 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

  • FHU Senior Participates in Biomedical Research Program

    Brooke Pace became a star last summer by returning home to Augusta, Georgia, for a summer internship. The senior biochemistry major found herself immersed in the world of biomedical research through a nine-week internship at Augusta University as a part of their Student Training and Research (STAR) program.

  • FHU Selects Six to Sing with Ambassadors

    Freed-Hardeman University has selected six students to perform this year as the Ambassadors. The acappella group, under the direction of Austin England, sings a variety of contemporary and classic Christian music, as well as several popular, secular melodies.

  • FHU Senior Interns with Representative Blackburn

    “Working for Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R, Seventh District, Tennessee) was such a dream,” Freed-Hardeman University senior Sutherland Shrader said about her summer internship in Washington, D.C. The public relations major from Columbia, Tennessee, spent eight weeks in the nation’s capital working with Blackburn’s communications director.

  • FHU Junior Takes First Place in Oak Ridge National Laboratory Poster Competition

    A Freed-Hardeman University student has won a poster competition at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Nuclear Engineering Science Laboratory Synthesis Program (NESLS). Hunter Heffington, an FHU junior majoring in chemistry and pre-engineering, took first place among 43 interns, most of whom were master’s level or doctoral students.

  • Thanks to FHU, Chester County Bands March to Different Drums

    Thanks to the generosity of Freed-Hardeman University, Chester County band students now have additional percussion instruments for their drumline. According to Chester County Director of Bands Jennifer Cupples, both the junior high and high school bands will benefit from the additional drums.

  • FHU to Begin New Year with Tolling of the Bell

    Freed-Hardeman University will begin the new academic year Aug. 23 with the 18th annual ceremonial Tolling of the Bell. Current president David Shannon, along with three former FHU presidents, will officially ring in the year during 10:30 a.m. chapel in Loyd Auditorium.
