    Freed-Hardeman University will crown its 2017 Homecoming Queen and King, Saturday, Nov. 11, at half-time of the women’s basketball game. Candidates for the honor, selected from the senior class, and attending royalty from the other classes were introduced to the student body last week.

  • USAF Mobility Brass Quintet to Perform at FHU Veterans Day Observation

    Freed-Hardeman University will observe Veterans Day Saturday, Nov. 11, with a performance by Mobility Brass Quintet, an ensemble within the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, and an address by Major General Paul Johnson (retired). The program will begin at 10:15 a.m. in Heritage Commons on the FHU campus.

  • FHU to Celebrate Homecoming with Students, Alumni and Weeklong Activities

    Freed Hardeman University’s annual Homecoming festivities will begin Nov. 2 and close Nov. 11 with competitions between social clubs, class reunions, a Homecoming 5k, tailgating, basketball games and a silent auction and other events sponsored by the FHU Associates.

  • FHU Students Inducted into Honor Society

    Thirty-two Freed-Hardeman University students were inducted into Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society Monday, Oct. 15, 2017. Membership is by invitation only to juniors and seniors who have a minimum grade point average of 3.75 on at least 80 credit hours.

  • Fall Enrollment Grows at FHU

    Fall 2017 enrollment at Freed-Hardeman University grew by 66 students with the total head count at all locations standing at 1,972, a 3.5 percent increase over 2016, according to university officials. Undergraduate enrollment was 1,471 students, while graduate students totaled 501.

  • FHU to Inaugurate 16th President Oct. 19

    David R. Shannon will be inaugurated as the 16th president of Freed-Hardeman University Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at 10:30am in Loyd Auditorium. He began his duties June 1, having been selected by university trustees April 21, 2017, following an extensive search.

  • FHU Professor, Students Enhance Chester County Youngsters’ Art Experience

    A group of Chester County elementary school children are enhancing their art education this semester in an after-school art class at Freed-Hardeman University. Twenty-one children are participating in the class Thursday afternoons until the end of November.

  • Encaustic Paintings by Nashville Artist Coming to FHU Gallery

    Abstraction in Nature, an exhibit from Nashville artist Judy Klich, will be on display Oct. 5-Nov. 14 at Freed-Hardeman University’s Troy Plunk Gallery in Bulliner-Clayton Art Center. The public is invited to attend a reception and artist’s talk Oct. 5, 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

  • FHU Senior Participates in Biomedical Research Program

    Brooke Pace became a star last summer by returning home to Augusta, Georgia, for a summer internship. The senior biochemistry major found herself immersed in the world of biomedical research through a nine-week internship at Augusta University as a part of their Student Training and Research (STAR) program.
