  • Faced with Pandemic, FHU Revamps Traditional Lectureship

    For 85 years Freed-Hardeman University has hosted the Annual Bible Lectureship, bringing thousands of attendees to Henderson for a spiritual feast. Faced with the pandemic, lectureship leadership has been forced to re-vision the event scheduled for Feb. 7-11, 2021.

  • FHU Theatre Brings “Little Shop of Horrors” to Stage

    Presenting live theatre during a pandemic presents unique challenges, according to Dr. Cliff Thompson, Freed-Hardeman University director of theatre. At a time when live theatre is almost non-existent, FHU is currently rehearsing for the Nov. 5-7, 2020, production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” a musical spoof on 1950s sci-fi and monster movies.

  • FHU Cancels Annual Homecoming

    Freed-Hardeman University has announced the cancellation of Homecoming festivities for 2020. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the traditional event, scheduled for Nov. 6-8, has been called off for the first time in more than 65 years.

  • FHU Momentum Continues through Strong U.S. News Rankings

    Building on the momentum of two years of record enrollment, Freed-Hardeman University has again received strong rankings from U.S. News & World Report. FHU is included in the top one-third of Regional Universities in the South and eighth in Best Value Schools in the organization’s 2021 Best Colleges report.

  • Committee Selects Two for FHU Sports Hall of Fame Induction

    The selection committee for Freed-Hardeman University’s Sports Hall of Fame has chosen two athletes for the 2020 class. Jim Carter, Lion first baseman from 1995 to 1997, and Haley Newby McRady, All-American Lady Lion basketball player who graduated in 2015. The official induction is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 14 during Homecoming weekend.

  • FHU Honors Mr. and Miss FHU 2020

    Freed-Hardeman University celebrated the 2020 Mr. and Miss FHU, Katie Morris and Kenneth Moore, Saturday, Aug. 22, in a ceremony in Chapel Hall. The event was delayed because of COVID-19 and the subsequent early end of the spring semester.

  • FHU Smashes Enrollment Records Again

    In the midst of a pandemic, Freed-Hardeman University has again set enrollment records. Total headcount for Fall 2020 stands at 2,188 students, with 1,727 of those being undergraduates. Both are all-time highs.

  • FHU to Celebrate 2020 Mr. and Miss FHU

    Freed-Hardeman University will recognize the 2020 Mr. and Miss FHU Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11:00am in Chapel Hall. The celebration will be live-streamed at Typically held in the spring semester, the celebration of this year’s winners was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
