A new year and new semester at Freed-Hardeman brings a new face to the faculty in exercise science. Brian Vaughn joins the FHU family this semester with a plethora of experience in physical therapy.
An original musical by Dr. Alan Kinningham, associate professor of music theory and composition at Freed-Hardeman University, will be presented to the public for the first time Tuesday, March 10, at 6:00pm in the Kelley Doyle Recital Hall in FHU’s Draughon Music Center. A cast of 20 students will present a concert/reading of “The Shepherd of the Hills,” based on a 1907 novel of the same name by Harold Bell Wright.
Freed-Hardeman University Theatre will present “Alice!” Feb. 18, 20-22 at 7:00pm, Feb. 19 at 8:00pm and Feb. 22 at 2:00pm in FHU’s Black Box Theatre. The original work of devised theatre explores who Alice is as she climbs through the mirror or plunges down the rabbit hole into Wonderland.
The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has announced the accreditation of Freed-Hardeman University’s Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
“Christian Chronicle Live” will tackle the issue of church shootings with a panel discussion Feb. 5 at 4:30pm during Freed-Hardeman University’s annual Bible lectureship. Chronicle editor-in-chief Bobby Ross, Jr. will moderate a discussion by two ministers whose churches have experienced shootings and a retired police captain.
Freed-Hardeman University has entered an articulation agreement with Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine to provide additional opportunities for FHU students planning to enter the field of osteopathic medicine.
The 84th Annual Bible Lectureship, Feb. 2-6, 2020, at Freed-Hardeman University will focus on finding “Our Place in His Story: Remembering the Past, Anticipating the Future.” In conjunction with FHU’s year-long celebration of its 150th anniversary, the Lectureship will include special features that help tell the university’s story, in addition to the traditional sessions that have highlighted previous lectureships.
More than 120 Freed-Hardeman University students will participate in winter commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, at 6:00pm in Loyd Auditorium. The total includes 58 who will receive baccalaureate degrees and 71 who will receive graduate degrees.
Freed-Hardeman University’s annual benefit dinner Friday night, Dec. 6. 2019, is on track to break another fund-raising record, according to Dave Clouse, vice president for community engagement. Tickets sold and funds raised have already exceeded those of last year, he said. Proceeds from the dinner help to fund scholarships at FHU.
Three Freed-Hardeman University students participated in the Bellwethers 2019 Juried Collegiate Student Art Competition hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin. The show was comprised of 40 pieces selected from more than 100 submissions.
