Pinning Ceremony

Academics // June 22, 2016

The nursing pinning ceremony is a tradition dating back to the 1800s. Recognizing the accomplishments of graduates and their transition to the nursing profession, the ceremony is a time when participants receive a pin unique to the FHU nursing program that they may wear on their nursing uniforms. Additionally, as a demonstration of their commitment to the nursing profession and the well-being of those they will care for, they light their lamp and recite the Nightingale Pledge. Each 2016 graduate of FHU’s accredited nursing program had secured employment either before or within a week of graduation.
