Since the fall of 1982, Dr. Joe DeLay has impacted the lives of students and of FHU in his own inimitable fashion. Known for his lunchtime rush to Gano, his photography, his poetry and the anecdotes/legends told about him, he has made his mark on the FHU family.
He retired in 2016 after 34 years teaching chemistry and the survey course in physical science.
Retirement, however, did not mean he left campus.
This spring he returned to FHU — as a student.
He took Fundamentals of Digital Design and International Relations. He did change his lunch place, however. He can now be found at a local eatery, American Pie, where they serve the DeLay Special, a Reuben sandwich and a sweet treat.
