Freed-Hardeman University is a special place. It doesn’t take long living as a student on this campus to notice that Freed-Hardeman’s blessings are life-changing and lifelong. These blessings are seen through the memories of past and current students, from national championships to making memories with a social club.
The lion statue that stands in The Commons gave us an opportunity to reflect upon the great memories of Freed-Hardeman. Our question was, “Why not do more?” Spray painting is simple, so why not give the campus something it deserves? A hand-painted mural. This motivated me, along with a great group of painters and friends, to spend hours hand-painting the lion with images that make this place so special. These scenes included the Bell Tower, each social club, Chorale, President Shannon and more. I thought, “If only this lion could tell the stories that he has seen.” I feel like we gave that opportunity to him.
